Is a 800 big enough for me?
Hi Everyone, Im a newbie to the forum, and to riding. Actually, both the wife and I are newbies. Always wanted to get into the biking spirit...and the wife said she wanted to try it out, so I jumped on the opportunity and we went out and bought her bike first. She bought an 07 Ninja 650R. This past weekend we both finished the MSF course...and she got a better score than I did! Kudo's to her...
Riding her bike, Im not totally comfortable due to my size. I seem to be really noticing the wind at highway speeds.
I want a cruiser, and I have been looking at various models. I have been asking alot of questions of riders I know, and trying to read up on the net. Alot of feedback I have been getting is that I wont like an 800 in a few months time???? Due to the lack of performance??? I am not a speed demon, and I dont think I ever will be???? I am a tall slender guy, about 6 ft 5, and I weigh about 225 lbs...and I am maturing with age Im thinking Im going to be wanting a windshield. I dont think I will be cruising the freeways that much, mostly city and country roads with speed limits around 50 - 60 mph, and I dont think I will be doing any long trips...(like three or four day excursions across the continent.) I can foresee day trips here and there. Any tips everyone can provide greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go for it! I'm 6-1, 215 & I ride 2 up with my wife. I've got a 05-800a & it gets the job done. You might consider a bigger bike later on, but the 8oo's are inexpensive you should be able to get your money back if you do sell or trade.
