Speedometer acts like tachometer
I have a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1600 During my first ride of this year, I noticed a burning smell coming from around the engine area. While I was riding about 3 weeks ago, the speedometer went Tango Uniform. It started acting as if it was a tachometer, it would respond to throttling and back to zero. After this happened I noticed that the battery was not keeping a charge. I've visually checked the wiring harnesses, and found no visible defects. Is this the speed sensor causing this problem? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

I was tightening my front axle a few weeks ago after having the front wheel off when I heard a crunch. My Asia model DTracker doesn't have a speedo cable, it's electronic and I am waiting on a new sensor from the US
Riding with the broken one in had the KPH all over the place
