Default After market pipes

Got myself a 2003 Vulcan 1500 sound too low I'm having new vance and hines pipes put on. Noticed this extra connection from a box under the seat. Catalytic converter ?? this bike is carburator not FI am I ok in removing the box and won't need to rejet or add anything to bike for performance ??

I put V&H's on my 96 1500 Classic and I did not rejet.
The bike ran fine, you'll like the sound !!!
I believe that you don't need to rejet unless you change the air intake.
Did you buy your pipes yet, I'm trying to sell a 1 year old set of Long Shots for a 1500.
